The long and dark Sisters arc is finally ended. We already knew from Index that Touma will end up defeating Accelerator. We already knew that Mikoto starts her “serious” crush to him after the incident. What we didn’t know is few important details being left out.
First, the real reason Accelerator decided to join the experiment. He aims to become the strongest beyond imagination not because he wanted absolute power. He simply tired of people challenging him for the title of “strongest esper”. He wishes if his power really goes up above certain level, people won’t even think to challenge him anymore, and he can start having a life he wants. Interesting! Though he did end up killing 10,000+ clones.
Another little detail we didn’t know is what happen between Mikoto and one of Misaka sister in the hospital where Touma is being treated. A truly heartwarming scene of Misaka sister defending Mikoto as her older sister in front of two little girls. Of course, that’s after the clone is saying “she does have childish taste for someone her age; she’s also crude, short tempered and quick to pick fights; on top of that, she’s the type who won’t admit of liking things; but she’s my big sister who’d even give her life for me.”
Finally, the scene between Touma and Mikoto near end of this episode make this entire arc worth it. Mikoto is making hand-made cookies for Touma, prepared to give it to him in hospital. But she meets him outside the hospital instead, when Touma is walking home. Her face and reaction is priceless. A young maiden in love, though still in her tsundere mode. Too bad the cookies doesn’t manage to reach Touma’s hands though. I wouldn’t mind eating Mikoto’s cookies!
