A satisfying ending, I would say. Misaki’s speech at graduation ceremony is a good (and touching) one. It serves well as a recap of the entire series, and relive those magical moments to play with our feelings. As you might guess, we are not the only ones feeling touched. The students of Sui High are also touched, and after a “shutting down” drama, the majority of students now against the closing down of Sakurasou.
I like the fact that this anime keeps it real by admitting that Misaki actually “cheats” by manipulating people’s emotion, then showing how bad faculty members treated them, and making the students voted for them in the spur of moment, after all the sequence of drama. Yes, her speech is great. But it is also a fact that it’s a well planned action to achieve one goal: to save Sakurasou.
This kind of solution, is surprisingly make sense. Put the same case in real world situation and things might work out the same way. It’s just, in real life, we don’t always get the chance of doing an epic speech where everyone gathers and listens, that’s the challenge. Graduation ceremony is a believable event for this crazy stunt.
Episode 24 is an episode of farewell. Everything must come to an end. As some of Sakurasou residents are graduating, obviously they can’t “stay together forever” like Kanda’s scream in episode 23. I like how the creators make our characters “deal with failure”. They failed, the felt sad, they cried, they were angry, and they have all the right to do so. The world is never fair in the first place. But the anime doesn’t give them “magical” success where all of a sudden, their hard work brings fruitful results and they lived happily ever after thingies. Instead, our heroes learn from their experience, decides not to give up and try again, more mature. Still with no guarantee that their next step will bring them success, but that’s life. We simply should keep trying.
