A portal was opened, connecting Japan and an alternate realm with dragons and elves. An otaku named Shinichi Kanou got a mysterious job, which brings him to the new realm, as a director of a diplomatic company exporting Japanese anime to the new realm. After a suspicious job interview, Shinichi lost consciousness because his drink is drugged. When he wakes up, he’s in a strange place and a cute girl with maid uniform is welcoming him.
Using a ring, they can talk to each other, solving the problem of language. The maid’s name is Miusel. Then a female military officer named Koganuma Minori explains to Shinichi that he’s now in Holy Eldant Empire, a new fantasy-like world (or another realm) that becomes accessible by people from Japan since the opening of a dimension portal a year ago in Mt Fuji. This realm has non-human races, dragons and other mythical creatures are flying around in the sky as a normal view.
Next, Motoba Jinzaburou, the man who interviewed Shinichi for the job reveals his true position as Director of Eastern Cultural Exchange Bureau. Shinichi is hired for the position to lead Amutec, a joint company between Japan and Holy Eldant Empire to spread otaku culture in this new realm. Speaking about extreme story setting, this one surely gets my attention, lol.
Later, Shinichi discovers that Miusel is actually half-elf, a low race of servant positions in Eldant. He soon realizes that this new world is not just about fantasy. It’s a whole new world with different values and social status. And not all of them are nice-and-colorful.
Shinichi’s first official job is to meet the Supreme Ruler of Holy Eldant Empire. And guess what? The Supreme Ruler is a little girl, with typical traits of tsundere loli in anime. And Shinichi’s naive response saying “little girl” almost cost him his life.
What an interesting first episode so far. Talking about a dream job… Shinichi gets a job in a realm of his dream, with a cute half-elf as his personal maid and a tsundere loli seems to be ready to join his harem. Now THAT’s the kind of job I’d like to have.
