A lot of small events happen in this episode. First, we have Kurami and Fil joining the team. And the first thing Sora tell them to do is: introduction. It seems absurd, but I can clearly see Sora’s intention. Fil is an elf. And he knows that the race of elves and the race of flugel are enemies. He should have seen how that old warbeast reacted to Jibril when he challenged warbeast race for a game. Now to have an elf and a flugel in the team, they need to work well, and the best thing is to work things out right from the very beginning.
Next we have Sora asking everyone to bond closer by… taking a bath together. This one does seem to be purely fanservice as I fail to see any strategic meaning behind this. Perhaps it’s to show a hint of how Kurami feels about Sora. I mean, now that Sora and Kurami practically know a LOT about each other, I personally think they make a good couple. Well, Shiro knows Sora better and it seems like they’re not blood-related siblings. But it still feels wrong to me for siblings to become lovers, blood-related or not.
The day for the game against the warbeasts has come. The citizens of Elkea are very angry because their king put imanity’s chess piece as a wager. Sora answers their anger by appearing from the front gate of Elkea’s castle to go to the game. I’m sure he has a plan, and I’m sure it will be revealed later.
Before the game begins, Sora uses his remaining wish to Stephanie (from his previous winning) under the protection from Jibril so the warbeasts can’t hear them. I assume this “wish” is very important, and will be the key to win the game later. Now, the secret game from the warbeasts is… a virtual reality game ! Sora, Shiro, Jibril and Stephanie participate in the game, against Izuna from warbeast race. They are “teleported” into a place that look exactly like modern-day Japan. So immediately Sora and Shiro feels intimidated. “Real world” is their greatest weakness anyway.
