Shiroe’s plan was successful. The Round Table Conference was created. This episode starts with showing us the improved situation of Akihabara, then using conversation of Marie and Henrietta to tell the story about how the conference was successful.
After explaining the other guild leaders about what kind of rules he planned to establish, Shiroe got his first support from three crafting guilds. The discovery on how to cook tasteful food lead him to the speculation that such method also applies for activities other than cooking. So he had the crafting guilds making steam engine using real works (not using game menu), something that did not exist in Elder Tale as a game. And the steam engine works. It proves that in this “world”, it’s possible to make things that were previously not available in Elder Tale.
The next plan of Shiroe is to start a new system of economy. Previously people has nothing to do and surviving in the virtual world cost too few money. With the possibility of inventions, they can start bringing real world inventions to the “new” Elder Tale, creating new jobs and new things to do.
And the most interesting thing Shoe said, was about applying the same rules and principles to “People of the Land”. These people are simple NPC (non-player character) in the game. But in this world, they are more than just NPC saying few programmed lines over and over again. Each person has their own background, interest, past experience, they’re like real humans. Their numbers are a lot bigger than the number of “Adventurers” (Elder Tale’s game term for players), and there’s a possibility that in this world, Adventurers can’t simply treat People of the Land as dummies. Even war against them is a possibility. This issue got D.D.D guild to support Round Table Conference, followed by all others.
The next half of the episode tells story about Log Horizon guild is setting up their new headquarters. While most of the kids that were rescued from the evil guild last week joined Crescent Moon Alliance, Tohya and Minori decided to join Log Horizon.
By end of episode, it becomes clear what will be the issue for the next arc: relationship with People of the Land. As some of them are already spying on Akihabara city, reporting the new changes to someone who looks like a king. So there will be diplomatic relationships with People of the Land next week. Might be something peaceful (with some new danger/problems being introduced later) or might lead to a big war between Adventurers vs. People of the Land. A very interesting twist to include the NPCs in the conflict.
I’m going to throw a random guess now. Is it possible that they are not actually inside a game / virtual world this time? Instead, they are entering a parallel universe that has great similarities with Elder Tale game. Maybe there’s magic in this universe, allowing them to see something that looks like their game menu. Maybe these “Adventurers” are summoned to this world by an unknown entity, and maybe by finishing what they are expected to do (something unknown) they can return home to the “real” world?
