Episode 6 is by far the BEST episode of Kyoukai no Kanata so far !
The story is rather simple. There’s a dreamshade that’s worth a fortune if we can defeat it. But this dreamshade has… let’s say special ability. It will release lots of liquid with a VERY bad smell when it feels threatened. So any effort to kill it will result in our heroes cleaning themselves in the shower, trying to wash off the smell.
Since normal strategy doesn’t work, our heroes learn that this dreamshade is a pervert. So having a cute human girl to tempt it will distract its self-defense. Mirai performs splendidly in her first attempt to act flirty. But Mitsuki failed to finish off the monster because Yakiimo (her rodent pet) is too heavy to move. As a bonus, Mitsuki is sprayed by a different type of liquid. The bad smell will not disappear by any wash. Plus she can’t smell it herself. Resulting our other heroes wearing masks around her, putting her in a huge transparent ball, and stay as far as possible from her in the shower. Lol, those scenes are PURE EPIC !
To top up the craziness, the next attempt to defeat the dreamshade is by performing a sing-and-dance. And so we have this special dance scene, homage to Haruhi’s Hare Hare Yukai dance. I watched this episode more than 5 times so far, and could not stop laughing every single re-run.
