If you miss Maou-sama from last season, rest assured because Maou-sama is back for us to watch this season. Well, not the bouncy Maou-sama though. This time, we get a male Maou-sama.
This season’s Maou sama started evil, trying to conquer human lands. Then a Yuusha (hero) appeared and pushed back to Maou’s castle. After being defeated by Yuusha, Maou escaped with one of his general and apparently teleported beyond their control into modern human world, in the heart of Tokyo.
Arrived in modern human world, they appear as human now, as magic does not exist in this world. Maou-sama still have very limited magic left, while his general totally lose all magic. With the limited magic left, Maou-sama learns about this human world, and decides to adapt the human ways to survive, at least until he can find a way to regenerate his magic power.
And so we have Maou-sama applying for human paperwork, opening bank account, renting a cheap apartment and getting part-time job at a restaurant. Quite interesting, I must say.
By the end of this first episode, we get another surprise. The Yuusha who defeated Maou is also in the same human world now. And this season’s Yuusha is a girl !
