I enjoyed the TV series of Fate ⁄ Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya, but I think this OVA is pretty disappointing. The entire episode is about sports festival in Illya’s school. My coincidence, Illya, Miyu and their friends overhear a male teacher ask for something indecent from Taiga (their teacher) if their class can’t win the sports festival. So our girls try hard to practice… dancing? Wait… what? I thought it’s about sport? Ah well, arguably, dancing is indeed can be categorized as sport. But I thought their class must become the overall winner. So shouldn’t they practice in other sports too?
Miyu is a very precise person, so dancing with flexibility seems to be very difficult for her. Thanks to Illya’s help, Miyu finally has some idea about dancing, and the way she implements that idea is… through transforming into magical girl?
The sports festival itself does have many sports. They don’t even bother to animate some of the sport scenes. We have plenty of still images filling our precious seconds in OVA duration.
And of course, the result of other sports are not conclusive so everything depends on the dancing. Well, they finally dance well, with Illya also transforms into magical girl mid-way. The class wins. And turns out the whole “indecent thing” from the teachers’ conversation turns out to be a big misunderstanding. It was all about meat prize, in the context of food. The class wouldn’t want their teacher to enjoy the meat prize of their winning, so they decide to join the meat party.
The first half of the duration has too many boring lines and almost no worthy action. The second half is slightly better, but still boring overall.
