Ichinomiya Kantarou is a folklorist with special ability to communicate with youkai (monsters). Not just the ability to see them, he becomes friends with them. Kantarou believes that youkai are basically not evil, as long as they are not possessed by Aradama (evil spirit).
Haruka is a goblin (a monster with wings) who used to be called ogre-eater goblin. He is the strongest goblin who killed other youkai without mercy, until one day he was sealed in a rock. Kantarou released his seal and give him the name “Haruka”. By this name, Haruka is bonded with Kantarou. Haruka completely forget about his past and now he lives a new life. A very interesting anime taking Meiji era as the time set. While most of us used to have the definition of youkai, oni, and Japanese ancient beliefs from Inuyasha, this anime gives us some fresh looks, ideas and also nice story flow. My rating : ★★☆☆☆ Seiyuu
