The world is not what it seems to be. “Guze no Tomogara” (creatures from another world) are killing humans by consuming their existence. Nobody realized the murder because the time was frozen when it happened. No crime was reported because they don’t “kill”, they “consume” existence, as if the person never exists in the first place.
“Flaze Haze” hunts “Guze no Tomogara” to protect the balance of the universe. When a tomogara eats human existences, Flame Haze creates “torchs” to replace those humans. Torch are not human. They are temporary replacement to reduce the impact of existence disappearing. So, instead of someone disappear immediately, a torch will replace it. No one will notice the difference. Then slowly people will start to forget the person, and when the torch’s energy is run out, it disappears. Sakai Yuuji is an ordinary highschool student. All things in his life are normal, until one day he discovered that the real Sakai Yuji is already died, and he is simply a torch. On his way home from school, Yuuji found himself attacked by a strange monster when everyone around him freezes. A sword-wielding girl in black attire with flaming red eyes and hair that burns like embers saved him from the monster. She’s a Flame Haze without name. And later Yuuji gave her a name, Shana. An incredible fantasy anime ! I like the original concept of torch replacement. I like how the romance of Yuuji-Shana-Kazumi develops between fights against tomogaras. Recommended for age 17+ (violence scenes). My rating : ★★★★★ Seiyuu
