In the land of Heavens, people live from the power of Akuto. Heavenly people has no physical body, yet they have the ability to create anything using Akuto energy.
Thinking that the power of Akuto will last forever, Heavenly people uses its power as they like, to create anything they want. It was until the day they realized that the power of Akuto is running out, Heavenly people started to worry about the end of their land. And so the great king of Magical Kingdom -at the cost of his own life- “creates” a son named Munto to be the future opener to save Heavenly people. In the Lower Land world (the Earth that we know), there is an ordinary girl named Hidaka Yumemi who has one special ability: she can see a floating island in the sky – the floating island of the Heavenly people. Since no one else would believe her, Yumemi only shares about her ability to her two best friends, Ichiko and Suzume. Life goes on normally until one day Munto, the king of Magical Kingdom, sees Yumemi in his vision that Yumemi is the girl who can save both worlds (the Heavens and Lower Land) by bringing back the Akuto. I have a confession. I already downloaded this anime for few weeks before I finally decided to watch it. The picture quality is not as detail as their other works (let’s say we compare it with CLANNAD or Haruhi), and the music is nothing extraordinary. Maybe that’s why this anime missed my attention for quite some time. Most anime lovers would probably agree that Kyoto Animation is an excellent anime production studio. While most of their other works are adapted from manga or visual novels, Munto is their original creation. That fact alone already makes this series worth watching. Anyway, once I started watching this anime, I soon became very attached to the point that I finished watching the whole episodes in one day ! Now I can surely recommend you this anime with beautiful storytelling and wonderful imaginary world. Recommended for all ages. My rating : ★★★★☆ Seiyuu
