Cooking style: Put all of the ingredients together, add some cotton candy.
A new season of Tamayura ! I’ve been a fan of this series since the previous season and looking forward to this one. Yes, there’s almost nothing serious in the story. But that’s what Tamayura is all about: a relaxed atmosphere, friendly environment, fuwa-fuwa type of story. It’s still about girls doing cute stuff, without anything being overdone here.
Watching: definitely yes !

Love Lab
Ingredients: All-girl school, a boyish heroine, a student council president who knows about everything except love.
Cooking style: Put the student council president into student council room. Add a hugging pillow. Make the student council kiss the pillow very passionately. Add the boyish heroine into the room. Stir well.
Maki Natsuo, an “honor student” who is also student council president is curious about love, has wild imagination about what she will do when she has a boyfriend. Kurahashi Riko, a boyish girl, simply enters the student council room at a bad time: when Natsuo is practicing how to kiss a guy, using a body pillow. Then this anime is about Natsuo’s “weird” imaginations of romantic relationship and how Riko is somehow play along to “help” Natsuo.

Rozen Maiden Zurückspulen
Ingredients: Living dolls who fight each other to become the last standing winner, a human hero, a mysterious rabbit.
Cooking style: Mix them together and wait while they fight. Add some moe if preferred.
I was excited when they announced about this new season Rozen Maiden. But watching the first episode, I’m far from feeling impressed. I don’t even know how to digest the first episode. Maybe it’s supposed to be a recap of all previous seasons, but it’s not. Some of the “recap” stories are different from what I watched. So I guess this is more about alternate reality, perhaps? Altered story, worse drawing, with crazy pace. I used to love this series, but I nearly drop this one just from the very first few minutes.
Watching: will give it a try, probably two more episodes

Gen’ei o Kakeru Taiyou – Il Sole Penetra le Illusioni
Ingredients: A girl who loves to read people’s fortune using tarot cards, magical tarot cards, magical world.
Cooking style: Put the girl into the magical world, add some magic to her cards, add some twist like memory altering ability?
This anime looks like Puella Magi Madoka Magica to me. Different settings and different environment, but certainly shares the same “dark” aura. Whatever we see in this first episode, I’m quite sure our perception of it will change later.
Update after watching episode 2: killing “monster” is killing a human behind it… and the story started by the main heroine already killed her own cousin… yes, it’s confirmed now, another “dark” story of magical girls

Danganronpa The Animation
Ingredients: a bunch of strange kids, a normal kid, a talking bear-doll.
Cooking style: Put the strange kids and the normal one into a sealed pot. Have them kill each other.
An average guy and a bunch of “talented” kids got trapped in a weird school with no way out and no time limit. The only way for the to escape is by killing one of them. A very twisted scenario. And as you might guess, it won’t be long before human beings start to show their “true” nature when their survival instinct kicks in.

Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku
The typical anime about a school club. If you like Seitokai no Ichizon, Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate or last season’s Yuyushiki, then this anime might be for your liking.

Fantasista Doll
Ingredients: A heroine who loves playing battle card games, a set of battle cards to summon cute girls.
Cooking style: Have the heroine summons a girl from her card. Battle with opponent. Winner takes loser’s card.
If the hero is male, this anime will definitely become a harem story. But the hero is a girl, so there’s a potential for not being cliche here. I guess this anime is a combination of Cardcaptor Sakura, Yu Gi Oh and Angelic Layer.

Servant x Service
Ingredients: A girl with super long name, a lazy-but-smart guy, a cannot-say-no girl.
Cooking style: Add the heroes into a working environment of a city administration office.
Surprisingly, this anime becomes one of my favorite this season. After so many anime revolves around school environment, having one that actually choose office working as its background is kinda refreshing. I was thinking this anime is going to look like Wagnaria, but it’s not. The jokes are mostly funny. The characters are loveable. Looking forward for a great season !

Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi
Ingredients: A 12-year-old girl who works as a gravedigger, a world where dead people still walk and move normally is normal, an entire village of living dead, an immortal zombie hunter.
Cooking style: Have the zombie hunter “kills” the entire village where the little girl lives. Have her learn that all of those villagers were already dead long ago. Ask her to do her job to give the villagers some proper burials.
So, in this world, humans no longer stop moving when they die. They still move, and walk, and talk, almost normally. At the same time, babies are no longer born. And humans, even if they want to die, they can’t. Weapons will damage or destroy their bodies. They will stop moving. But their soul will not rest in peace until a celestial being called gravedigger gives them a proper burial. Gravediggers are not humans. They directly appear out of nowhere and have no emotion. Except our heroine. She’s a gravedigger with real power, but she was born like humans. Probably the only 12-year-old on the planet since the people no longer “dies” and babies no longer born 15 years ago.
A very strong background story ! I enjoy it so far.

Makai Ouji – Devils and Realist
Ingredients: A rich boy who is a pure realist (only believes in science and common sense), a devil, a butler.
Cooking style: Make the rich boy a descendant of King Solomon. Put a devil near him, asking the boy to choose him as the new leader of devil world. Add some slight taste of yaoi.
I don’t usually watch anime without female characters. I decided to give this one a try due to its interesting story.

Highschool DxD NEW
Ingredients: A pervert hero, a demon with huge breasts, a loli with inhuman strength, a sadistic girl, a former nun who become a demon, a knight-type male friend.
Cooking style: For the girls, any mixing style will do, most audience will only look at them anyway.
Another second season ! Highschool DxD is an anime with quite heavy fanservice. Don’t question how the girls’ clothes always disappear yet no harm or any injury happen to their bodies. Just watch, and enjoy.

Blood Lad
Ingredients: An otaku vampire, a human girl, a flesh-eating plant.
Cooking style: Put human girl into demon world, have her meet our otaku vampire, then have her eaten by flesh-eating plant. The quest is how to revive her back to life.
An interesting first episode. An otaku vampire, how weird is that, hahaha. And to have a Japanese girl with school uniform to suddenly appear in demon world, only to be eaten by a plant monster is just too funny and random. And since it’s demon world, her spirit is still there, moving and talking as usual. Well, I guess human spirit can be categorized as a kind of “being” as well? And in demon world, such being is even more “normal” than a living human.
