After the entertaining filler episode last week, we’re back to the main story. This week is an episode dedicated for Sakura (Yui’s younger sister) and her “mission” to kill Mirai.

We knew from episode 3 and 4 that Sakura has a powerful spear weapon, strong enough to put Mirai in danger. What we didn’t know, is that Sakura actually doesn’t have any talent or special ability to become a spirit hunter. Someone lend her the spear and gave her a mission to kill Mirai. If she succeed, she can keep the spear.

The spear gets stronger every-time it kills a youmu by absorbing the victim. A normal girl without special ability like Sakura will have a hard time controlling that spear, and eventually being consumed by it.

Now that Mirai is no longer scared to kill dreamshade, we can clearly see that she’s a very powerful spirit hunter. We usually see the cute side of Mirai. This week we see the strong and cool side of her. With her own way, Mirai settles her problem with Sakura. Not as enemy, but as an older sister. I guess Mirai still see Sakura as younger sister, so she’s like taking care of a lost sister.

By end of this episode, it seems like something big is coming. And for the first time, the word “kyoukai no kanata” (the title of this series) is mentioned in a dialogue. Entering the main arc, I suppose.
