The reason Tsukasa did not try to meet her daughters are because of her health condition. When Tsukushi learns about the truth of her mom’s condition, she begs for more time to make memories with her mom. And young Yokodera grants that wish. He offers Nekogami-sama (cat-deity) his memory to become Tsukushi’s. And that’s how Tsukushi have sweet memories with her mother and Yokodera kept forgetting things in his past. Apparently, once something is “old enough” to be considered as “memory”, he will immediately forget it. That’s how Nekogami-sama grated his wish.
Back to current time, now Tsukiko can understand why Yuuto can not remember his first encounter with her. Next, she decides not to go to Italy. She wants to remain close to Yuuto because she doesn’t want to be a “memory”. A confession? Perhaps. A symbolic one. And that’s how this anime concludes.
I like this anime. It started silly and funny, then developed to be something unreal, yet the final conclusion feels somewhat grounded to reality. It’s not an entire world-line created from a wish, it simply a play of giving and receiving memory. It was a fun ride, though I do wish they will put something more satisfying as an ending. That last scenes of going to amusement park as a group is really silly and pointless.
