In the entire first season, we never saw Saori without her unique glasses. This episode we get to see Saori’s past and how she came to love anime, plus the original owner of her glasses.
Saori was introduced to the world of otaku by her older sister, a carefree woman with the capability of doing many different things. Saori herself was an ojou-sama type of girl, quiet and spend most of her time without friends. After she was introduced to the world of otaku, her older sister moved overseas and the circle she used to hang out with soon disappeared. So Saori inherits the weird glasses and tries to have her own “circle”.
