SAO is back ! Right from the first episode, we get to see Kazuto is being lovey dovey with Asuna. Well, I guess it serves well as reintroduction.
Let’s have a little bit of flachback. After completing Sword Art Online and escaped from Aincrad, Kazuto (Kirito’s real name) saved Asuna from ALO. Then he distributed “world seed”, a software that allow people to create their own servers of virtual world games. Starting from that point, there are countless amount of online game with full dive virtual world.
Season 2’s story focuses on a game named Gun Gale Online (GGO). This game uses long range weapons and allows player to actually exchange game coins with real money. For this reason, a lot of “professionals” are playing this game as their main source of income. Our story starts when there’s an incident of a player suddenly died of heart attack while playing GGO. In the game world, a player shot a weapon called “Death Gun” and the one getting shot dies in real life. The mysterious player with this Death Gun only targets player he considers “worthy”, all his targets are expert players, so he is not just randomly killing players.
It seems to me that Kirito will return to the virtual world to investigate this case. And heck, I hate it when he decides not to tell Asuna about it. Dude, your girlfriend is an expert gamer. If you have an issue related to game, at the very least she deserves to know. This whole “I don’t tell her because I don’t want to make her worry” is one of the dumbest cliche causing a great deal of unnecessary problems in countless movies.
