In last episode, I was wondering why Nike’s father has not made appearance yet. Here he comes in this episode. Looks like typical doting father, but I wonder how he could send her daugher so easily to marry a stranger in the first episode. That’s beyond me.
It’s a nice twist that the final challenge for Livius and Nike comes from Nike’s own family. So the entire thing is planned by Tohara (Nike’s grandmother). She was furious when she heard that Nike was sent to marry Sun King by Teteru (Nike’s father). So the plan is to get Livius and Nike to come, restrain Nike in a jail with anti-spell, then make Livius return to Sun Kingdom and forget about Nike.
Since Tohara is the “actual” ruler in Principality of Rain. Everybody must follow her decision, including Teteru, Nike’s sisters and Kitora (Nike’s cousin). And everyone obeys, except for Nike’s oldest sister who decides to help Livius.
So, we have Nike in anti-magic jail with bleeding head. We have Livius risking his life to find a key to save Nike. Rather clicle, but feels like a proper build-up for an anime with such light theme.
And to think that this whole drama happens just when those two actually started growing romantic feeling towards each other. That’s what I call movie-style coincidence.
